Off for Giant Weekend!

This year, the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world is flying its dealers out to Park City Utah for an all expenses paid weekend and 2009 product review. Giant is finally stepping up to give dealers a pre-release prior to interbike and floating the entire bill as well. We'll be riding 2009 bikes in the mountains of Park City, while wining and dining with the entire staff of Giant Bicycles USA.
For those that don't know, Giant is THE largest manufacturer of bicycles in the world. They build bikes for many of the large companies, including Trek and Specialized. Apparently Santa Cruz also outsources the manufacturing of the most the Blur models to Giant now as well. Giant has been building bikes for quite some time (40+ years) and it's no secret that they are the leaders and pioneers in the carbon frame technology and many other new development in the industry, for instance "Compact Geometry". I will be posting to my blog during the weekend, with pics of 2009 bikes and information on the early release. Stay tuned.

Let's be clear - Giant is the largest bike manufacture (that doesn't mean the best) Trek Race bikes starting with the 5.2 are made in the USA not Tawain ALL GIANTS ARE MADE IN TAWAIN- and the recent improvements of the TCR and OCR are what Trek designed in 2008 (i.e. oversized BB). If you want to keep jobs in the U.S. and ride the best bikes ride Trek.

The largest and the only one out there that makes 100% of their product. They were also THE company that started carbon frame technology back before Trek knew what a wheel was. You want to ride the best, ride the bike that has had the most wins for 2008 and 4, count them, 4 wins in the Tour de France. Ride Giant.

Giant is made by... hmm. GIANT! Trek is made by... hmm. GIANT and a few carbon bikes are made in house.

WOW 4 STAGE WINS!!! Holy Crap.
If you want to make tour de France wins a litmus test for who has the best bike then Trek kicks Giant's ass- maybe you have short term memory- let me refresh it for you- Trek has 22 stage victory wins 11 time trial victories in the tour de France and that's only with one rider- and like you said Trek has been around for a short time- If Giant has been around before Trek knew what a wheel was then why don't they have the stage victories like Trek does? Have fun on your Tawainese bike- But don't be pissed the next time an AMERICAN BIKE kicks your ass. Then you can go home cry in your expresso and wish you weren't duped about buying a crappy bike from the largest manufacture in the world.

Hey Trek guy... stop acting a dill-hole! Most of Treks bikes are NOT USA made. Even Santa Cruz has Giant make most of their kickass bikes. Why? ...cause they make quiality frames! Are you saying my Nomad is un-American?

Dear (anonymous) Trek Guy,

Lets be very clear... Lance would have ridden a schwinn and probably still pulled off victory after victory... Levi also...

Please don't bore us with your stupidity.

Get a life and ride your bike.

Actually all of you guys got it wrong- When it comes to the road Giant, Trek, whoever, can't hold a candle to Cervelo bikes- As I see it, Cervelo is leading the industry in design and innovation not Giant- Trek may have held that title for a while but Cervelo is by far a better ride and better design than any other brand. Let's put it this way, I've never, ever been passed by someone on a Giant when I'm on my P3 with my Zipp 808 and Disk-wheel- maybe one or two Treks but never a Giant- if I did, I think I would quit the sport.
It's kinda of funny that one guy comes up and states something different than the party line- at Mad Cats and you "Giant" guys get in a hissy fit, and resort to calling people names- talk about narrow minded and immature.

Cervelo is a Canadian company. Bikes are made in Asia and assembled in Canada. Sounds gucci Europian though.

Hey anonymous... ever stop to think that maybe some foreign dudes with lots of money prolly own Trek? So, yeah, you support a few employees... but the money really goes overseas. (Hehe, that rhymed!!) If you want to be a bloody American... why don't you go buy a frame from one of those cool dudes who show up at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show? Your money will support the few employees and in the end, still stay here in America. And, you will have a way cooler bike than these mass produced super-market bike shop bikes. I'm willing to bet the parts on that piece of crap Trek are from another country... (Shimano is not American) and I know for a fact that the paint is from outside the U.S. To be American, is to buy from the little guy. Go Team MadCat!!

To some of the anonymous writers: Buy what you want and what works for you. For years I thought Giant sucked and their bikes were rubbish, all I saw was ugly bikes named Giant (not my favourite bike company name) that were made in Taiwan. The fact is that only a small minority of Giant’s bikes are actually made in Taiwan, and those made in Taiwan are actually the top end aluminium models. I used to buy nothing but handmade frames from places like here in the UK, Cannondale and GT in the US and Rocky in Canada, then last year I decided on a new bike, I spent a lot of time trying everything so I would choose the best (I missed out Giant for reasons above), I set my mind on a Trek Fuel EX made in the US but on my way to order one I stopped off at a Giant dealer as quite a few people had told me the Trance X was good, I bought it 10mins later not because it was better much better but because it was way better value. It was a little while latter I learned that both the Trance X and Fuel EX were made in the same factory. No bike is better because of where it’s made, if you take Giant’s FS bikes the reason they are the best is a matter of value, R&D and the fact they are very well made in one of the most advanced aluminium facilities in the world. I’d like to also point out that what bike wins a race has very little relevance when designs are different but so close in performance these days, it’s much more to do with the rider. I’ve never stuck to one manufacturer but Giant is simply the best and those who ride them know.

To the blog writer, I apologise for putting this on two of your posts. :-)
